What is Piñatex?
Piñatex is one of the first leather alternatives to emerge! Its story begins in the Philippines, where pineapple leaves, often considered agricultural waste, are salvaged and valued. From these leaves, fibers are extracted to create a non-woven substrate. Local farmers receive essential supplementary income for collecting these leaves, which would otherwise be burned on site. The finishing stage, which transforms this substrate into Piñatex, then takes place in Spain. To learn more about this fascinating material, feel free to consult our dedicated blog article here.
Care Tips:
To preserve the beauty of your bag:
- Clean gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
- In case of a stain, use a soft cloth lightly soaked in lukewarm water and mild, pH-neutral soap.
- To maintain the suppleness and longevity of your Piñatex, you can occasionally hydrate it with a very small amount of neutral vegetable oil (such as organic coconut oil) applied with a soft cloth.
- Absolutely avoid: abrasive or chemical products, bleach, alcohol, abrasive sponges, machine washing, tumble drying, direct sunlight, or radiators.
- Always let your bag air dry, away from any heat source or direct sunlight.
